Friday, 11/11, was National Pepero Day here in Korea! These thin sticks dipped in chocolate (sometimes with peanuts or almonds) are to be given to the ones you love. 11/11 was chosen because the sticks resemble a “1”. As with most blossoming consumerist societies, the event has exploded to hundreds of varieties and gift packs, such as the display here in my local grocery store. Thanks for the belly ache Pepero!
